- Use the L2 button to throw an alley-oop pass to a player when you see him break open
- Exploit mismatches by using the TR button and the D-pad to back down a smaller defender in the post
- Pick on slow defenders by calling an isolation play and use R2 to stutter-step and crossover on him
- Press select for a pick-and-roll situation. Come off the pick and shoot the shot or pass to the big man sliding down the lane
- If you've got an aggressive defender who goes for blocks, tap the O button for a shot fake, get the defender in the air and attack the basket
- Shoot and move the D-pad away from the basket to elude the defender with a fadeaway jumper
- Perform a jump hook in the low block by pressing up and shoot at the same time
- Keep the defense honest by switching offensive plays on the fly. Run a motion offense, post up your dominant low post player or run an isolation play for your best one-on-one players.
- Press R2 to get your player in a defensive stance, and from here press R1 to turbo, or SQ to steal the ball
- When in the paint or on the perimeter, reject shots by pressing TR
- While running back on defense, press the L2 button to switch to a defender closest to the basket
- Stop your opponent's dominant scorer by calling over another defender. Press select and see who comes over for the immediate double-team
- Try and fool the offense by switching defensive plays. Pick up full court, apply a half-court trap or simply 'D' up
